Welcome, spring! What took you so long? It seems as though winter has been an especially long and dreary season this year.
Tomorrow is the first day of spring and I am more than ready! I am ready to get into the yard and prep my flowers beds. I am ready to open the doors and windows to let in the spring air. I am ready to pick strawberries. I am ready to breathe in all the pollen - oops, I forgot.... that is one thing I am not ready for.
I guess one reason this winter has seemed so long and dreary is what we are all facing with our economy, budget cuts, foreclosures, layoffs and furloughs and the list goes on and on. A news blog that I enjoy viewing did an entry on the recession, not just here in the US but worldwide. The Big Picture, from the Boston Globe posts news stories through pictures. Pictures are worth a thousands words. If you enjoy looking at photographs, go through some of the previous entries. Amazing photos. Check it out!
Speaking of strawberries (a happier subject)....I have tried two new recipes using strawberries this past week.
Strawberry Cake with White Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
And sitting in the freezer waiting to be cut is
Strawberry Margarita Pie
Here are a few others items I have been working on:
dishcloth
Super easy - uses 3 fat quarters.

We have half a bag of strawberries left in the freezer. I can't wait for a fresh crop!
That pie makes my mouth water.
Have you used your Tag Along Tote yet? It looks like the perfect thing to take to sporting events and other places where you might not want to carry a purse. I might just have to make one, too! :)
Hey! I am glad you are doing the conference. I am, too, but this is my first year. (Well, I'm doing as much as I can -- the kids will be on spring break.) It is put on by some wonderful ladies.
Have a great day!
