Summer produce is so enjoyable this time of year. What is also nice about summer produce is that it can be canned or frozen and enjoyed during the winter. This has been a great summer for canning and freezing. A few weeks ago, I canned 8 qts. of green beans,
and last week I froze 15 qts. of butterbeans
and 12 qts. of pinkeye peas.
I hope to freeze some tomatoes next week. I have canned tomatoes in the past but thought I would try freezing roasted tomatoes this year after reading this blog entry on roasted tomatoes at 4 Reluctant Entertainers recently. It sounds like they would be great for making spaghetti sauce this winter.
I also have enjoyed trying new recipes this summer. Here are a few that are what my hubby says are "keepers":
Vanilla Wafers (Thanks, Rebecca-Ezra Pound Cake)
Tomato Tart (Thanks, King Arthur Flour)
Homemade Pizza Dough (Thanks, Michelle - Brown Eyed Baker)
Baked Shrimp In Tomato Feta Sauce (Thanks, Elise - Simply Recipes)
Summertime Barbecue Chicken (Thanks, Amy - Sing for Your Supper)
Who needs a recipe book when there are so many wonderful recipes on the web?

You are making me tired. You have one busy lady. The only thing I've done this summer is cook some peaches for pies and gottem them in the freezer.
Well now I'm starving : ) it all looks so good!!
Leslie, Do you pressure can your green beans? If not, would you share your recipe? :)
Hi Leslie !
Thanks for visiting my blog ! I think I just gained 5 pounds looking at yours , LOL !
You had a question about the white or black with oak...I have black with my oak - I think it is a rich contrast..I think white is o.k. if you want a shabby or a beachy type of feeling.....I guess it depends on your furniture and what theme you enjoy most...White - casual and Black - dressed up.
Hope this helps :o)
Come by anytime, love to have you !
Hugs ~ Kammy
Geez Leslie, I'm starving now! Looks like you've had a bountiful summer so far!
Leslie, I wanted to thank you for posting about the roasted tomatoes. I picked up 15 pounds yesterday (a start, ahem) and roasted a few for dinner last night Delicious! I roasted more today, bagged them and popped them in the freezer. Soooo much easier than canning.
