A Year in Color and Just Wondering.....

A Year in Color - Lime Green WIP
I have been doing a little knitting and a little sewing but free time hasn't been on my side lately. Here is the knitting WIP. It will be either a washcloth or bib. The pattern is originally a dishcloth but I think it might make a nice bib. I also made a blue denim bag last week. Blue Denim Blue Denim This was my first attempt at placing ric rac at the top edge of the bag. As always with a new technique/pattern I consider the first bag as a learning experience taking note of how to make improvements. Friends are loving these trial runs....I give the bags to them if I don't use them myself.

Speaking of learning...
I love reading blogs and exploring all the talent found throughout each blog I read. I was just wondering....how do you change the banner on blogs? Is there a tutorial out there somewhere with instructions? Any ideas?

Pluto Deplaneted!!!!!

Can't believe it....Pluto has been deplaneted....downgraded....stripped of its position of being the nineth planet from the sun. It has been downsized to a dwarf because of its size and it doesn't orbit completely around the solar system neighborhood. Ah, the nature of science....always changing.

Baby Kimono and Patchwork Bag Compliments

I have completed the baby kimono from the Mason Dixon book. Isn't it cute?
Baby Kimono I am giving it to a colleague this week. She is ready to birth her little one anytime now. I question whether the kimono is long enough. In person, it appears to be short but maybe that is the way it is suppose to be.
Today after church, my husband and I were eating at a local sandwich shop. The young lady taking my order complimented by bag. Patchwork Purse
She started asking questions about it and of course, I was thrilled to share my little bit of knowledge with her. Then as we were eating another young lady from the restaurant stopped at our table, spotted my bag and began quizzing me again about my patchwork bag. Having been distracted from the first conversation (so much so that I walked off without our iced tea) my husband suggested that maybe next time I should leave my bag in the car. Oh, but it was so much fun!

Driven Crazy

Am I the only person who is driven crazy by drive-thru pharamcies? I left 2 presciptions at a pharmacy thursday afternoon expecting them to be ready in a couple of hours. Instead I go to pick up the order 28 hours later and the prescriptions were not ready. Why is that? I could not believe it. They had not even placed the prescription into the computer. UGH!!! This isn't the only time this has happened. Could it be because this store is a national chain? I am seriously considering going to a locally owned pharmacy. And that is something else that drives me crazy...insurance companies and drug plans....

Side note:
Here is the purse I sold today. My very first purse that I actually sold. I think it turned out well. Even my husband commented on it. He said it looked better than the one I made for myself. I used Autum's patchwork tutorial and Blair's fabric flower tutorial. For the flower I added more small flowers than what is called for in the insructions. That made the flower a little more fluffier.

Ahhhh....Soggy Saturday in South Carolina

What a wonderful relief from the heat! It is raining big beautiful drops of rain from the sky.
Ahhhh....Soggy Saturday in South Carolina

Our precious middlers arrived Wednesday and it was wonderful. I love meeting the 6th graders. They are always so excited and anxious about leaving their former elementary schools and entering the middle school. They are so confused as to where to go and what to do next. There is a little Hispanic fellow (Marvin) in the 6th grade who tickles me so much. He speaks very little English. I guess I was the closest adult when he first encounter his dilemma so now he will walk right past other adults and come straight to me everytime he isn't sure he is at the correct classroom. It has been a very smooth opening for our school but, boy, have I been tired at the end of the day. When I am that tired, the best thing I can do to relax is knit. Having said that, let me show you what I have worked on this week....
Birthing of A Kimono
I also have had a request from a colleague for a patchwork quilted bag. This will be my first bag I have sold. All others I have either kept or given away. Several teachers are asking if I would make some bags in our school colors. That just might be a possiblity! :)

A Year in Color - Sky Blue Stained Glass Flower

A Year in Color - Sky Blue Stained Glass Flower

In this part of the world, this week's color for "A Year in Color" is known as Carolina blue - for the University of North Carolina. I love this shade of blue even though I am a longtime fan of the University of South Carolina. Go Cocks! Won't be long til we'll be traveling to Columbia for the football games.

Blogging VS Working...Which Will It Be??

I have been back to work for a week and it is creating a problem for me. I can't find time to read blogs completely and thoroughly. I woke up around 4am this morning and seriously considered getting out of bed to read blogs. But I didn't....I rolled over and went back to sleep. All I have managed to do is skim a few of my favorites like Autum, Beth, Laine, Theresa, Katie....just a few of the many that I enjoy reading.

I have completed another purse (purple polka dot)and I am working on another one. It is a green patchwork purse where the strips are horizontal instead of vertical. The pattern is from the book, Bag Boutique.

Oops....it's late. Time for bed. I can't stay up as late as I did during the break.
