Hi Ho Hi Ho It's Off To Work I Go!

Well, summer is offically over for me. Tomorrow I begin my 29th year in middle school education. Today I spent the day finishing a room that my husband and I painted this weekend and wishing I had a couple of more days. This has been a terrific break for me. I have done nothing but knit, crochet and even got back into sewing this summer. Loved every minute of it! Well, time for my bath. What will I wear tomorrow since I can't wear my t-shirts and shorts...Ugh! And no more naps after a leisurely lunch....ugh, ugh!!!! How many weeks til Christmas break????

"Snap Crackle Pop" Waffles

The other day I was looking at the August/September issue of Cook's Country. The article "Extra-Light, Extra Crispy Waffles" caught my eye since everytime I try to make waffles they are not light and crispy, much less extra-light and extra-crispy. The article explained in detail how she experimented with various recipes, ingredients and techniques to get the best results. While eating Rice Krispie Treats, the author decided to add some Rice Krispies to the waffle batter to see if the end result would be crispy waffles. Long story short.....I think it is time to let go of my Eggos.

Rice Krispie Waffles

They were terrific,"extra-light, and extra-crispy".

Generous Gals in Blogland

Generous Gals in Blogland are everywhere. Here are some examples that I have personally enjoyed this week:
1) A few weeks ago I was cruising through various blogs and was the first to comment on ie's entry. She sent me this gorgeous green purse all the way from Norway.
2) I order a Japanese craft book from from Alexia (Craftopia) and she sent me a fabulous piece of fabric as an extra surprise.
3) To Knit or Crochet swap and Fabirc Square swap have also given me various of items to play with. Thanks Katie for organizing these swaps.

This is just a small example. Amazing and wonderful. When I return to school in just a few weeks from now (ugh!), I will have a lot to share with my buddies. Thanks to all.

Now...what have I been up to????? I am a new great aunt. My niece had a little fellow yesterday morning. A few of the bibs and burp clothes I have made this summer will be used by that little guy. I told my niece she will be my guinnea pig....test these items out and let me know if they fall apart....hopefully not!

I also had completed another patchwork purse in pastels. It is hard to see but I even included a fabric flower. HeeHee....I love it! Can you see the bubble gum machine in the back of the picture? That machine used to be in my father's grocery store. It still works. Don't know why I am telling you this.

Lastly, I never posted the market bag I was working on for my son. It is finished and has been mailed to him.
Greenw Market Bag
Sure hope it will hold a few items when he shops the corner grocery store in Philadelphia.

Busy Busy Busy......

Thanks to Lainie at While You Were Sleeping for the surprise in the mail today. I came in second place (by a minute) to a contest question on her blog. She was so kind as to send me this personalized clipboard. It is hard to see my name on it in this photo. It is too cute! Some people are so creative. I never would have thought to decorate a clipboard. I was in Lobby Hobby/Hobby Lobby (never can remember the name of that store) today and wishing I had some of you gals with me to help my creative juices flow. I still managed to walk out of there with plenty....yarn and cloth.

It has been a productive weekend. I finished two purses, (photos below) one dishcloth, started a bag that I will felt (Lucy bag), baked 4 loaves of bread (yum), made peach enchiladas (great dessert using fresh peaches), and packed up a box of goodies for my son and his girlfriend in Philly. He started his emergency medicine residency last week. She is doing an ObGyn residency in Philly but in a different hospital. I am waiting to hear about some drama from the ER. She has already delivered two new little ones into this world.
Leaves Purse
I need to add a button on the this green leaves bag.

Black White and Red Purse
I really enjoyed making this patchwork quilted bag. I bought some pastel material in pink, yellow and green today to make another one of these.

July's Spectrum Project color is purple.
I love some shades of purple particularly the lighter shades. Funny though, when I look for purple in my house...it is hard to find. I did find a couple examples in the yard. Wonder if I should find some purple yarn to knit something????
