Learning This Thing Called Blogging

The more I fool around with this thing called blogging the more drawn in I am. For two nights in a row, I have stayed up later than normal trying to figure out how to set it up. Normally I am in bed by 11:00 but not these past couple of nights. I am pleased with how I have learned on my own how to change the settings/format but there are still a few things I am trying to work out. It has cut into my knitting time. I have a baby shower to go to next weekend for my niece and I still have a couple of items to finish. I also have been trying to finish a felted bag with some yarn that I tried the kool-aid dying routine on. I am anixous to see how it will felt.
A few minutes ago I told my husband I was going to finish it but look at me.....I am writing this blog.

The Beginning.....

After many evenings of reading the blogs of other knitters, I have decided to start one myself. I have never been one to journal but I am fascinated with blogs - so I'll give this a try. Here goes.....
I have been knitting and crocheting a little over a year. Like so many, I, too learned the basics from my mother and grandmother as I was growing up. I still have many items created for me by my mother and grandmother. (crocheted tablecloth, afghans, a large shaw with a brightly colored psychodelic butterfly on the back - I grew up in the late 60's, my son's Santa stocking that hangs every Christmas on the mantel even though he is 29 yrs old) My mother passed away a couple of years ago and my grandmother passed away a year ago at the age of 101 yrs old. (The picture is my grandmother on her 100th birthday playing her harmonica - she was quite the character) While cleaning out my mother's house, I found her old needles and hooks and that stirred my interest in revisiting this craft. Plus the internet is a great source for learning how to knit and crochet. Many times I wish my mother was still here to discuss knitting. Maybe that is why I am enjoying reading the knitting blogs....
